Description

This course covers everything a developer needs to get productive with Docker quickly. You’ll start by understanding what containers are, why they exist, and how Docker solves the classic “it works on my machine” problem that plagues development teams everywhere. From there, you’ll learn how to write Dockerfiles, build and manage images, run containers, and work with volumes and networking.

You’ll then move into Docker Compose, learning how to define and orchestrate multi-container applications — such as a web app alongside a database and a caching layer — with a single configuration file. The course also covers best practices for writing efficient Dockerfiles, keeping images lean, managing secrets, and preparing containerized applications for a production environment. By the end, you’ll be container-confident and ready to work in any modern development or DevOps team.

Requirements

Basic familiarity with the command line and at least one programming language is required. No prior knowledge of Docker or containers is needed. A computer with Docker Desktop installed — available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
